Casarabonela faces the Guadalhorce Valley, the Hoya de Malaga, the Sierra Prieta mountain and a part of the coast far to the south - thereby affording spectacular views in all directions.
The municipality is situated approximately 48 km from Malaga capital and borders on the regions of Antequera to the north and Ronda to the west.
It has a population of approximately 2,500 residents - known locally as Moriscos.
Casarabonela is a great place for outdoor adventure.
Throughout the municipality are many rural roads, paths and trails to be discovered by foot, mountainbike and 4x4; but be sure to take an adequate supply of water - especially in summer!
Interesting historical places to see include the sixteenth century Iglesia Parroquial de Santiago Apóstol, the nintrh century Castillo Árabe, Molino de los Mizos, the eighteenth century Ermita de la Veracruz and the seventh century Ermita del Calvario.
Casarabonela is known for its arts and crafts, such as wrought iron work, furniture restoration and saddlery.
Check out the winding, narrow streets of a typical Andalusian white village fiiled with interesting corners, cafes and shops.
